Villa Framing was established by Leonard Villa in London in 1982. Originally based in a small workshop in Camden, it rose to become the premier bespoke framing company in London, serving many major galleries and artists, both in the UK and internationally.

At the time of the company's foundation, frame manufacturing was mainly via mass production mouldings. However from the outset, Leonard Villa felt that master artists required a higher quality presentation and pioneered the reintroduction of time honoured, often forgotten hand finished production methods, including water gilding using traditional techniques invented by the Ancient Egyptians (24 carat gold/white gold leaf). As well as using historic methods, Villa Framing were innovative and forward thinking, setting market trends which others were to follow for years to come. This includes the creation of seamless Perspex boxes and hard wood frames, which continue to be used today by cutting edge art dealers. What makes Villa Framing the leader in its field is the ability to design a unique style, using bespoke frames created exclusively for individual artists.

During our 25 year history, we have worked with most of the leading London galleries, museums and institutions as well as prominent art dealers, collectors and artists. We have also provided services to the Royal Household, Royal Academicians, numerous celebrities and public figures.

Most of our craftsmen have served lengthy apprenticeships, spent many years with the company and have a combined experience of over 200 years. Staff areas of expertise include Art Conservation and Restoration, Carpentry, Finishing and Gilding. We have also contributed as consultants to various publications and TV documentaries and have been invited by the Keeper of the Royal Academy to lecture on framing.

Villa Framing continues to maintain and improve upon our exceptional standards of quality, keeping our finger on the pulse of a transient art world and adapting and developing our creative innovations. We continue to raise the bar on professional picture framing while providing a customer focused, and personal service.
